Boulder Creek vs. North Canyon
If you have ever played organized basketball against a team with superior talent that decided to play an aggressive, trapping defense, you know how North Canyon felt tonight. The Boulder Creek boys’ basketball team turned up the defensive intensity from the start of the game and didn’t let up until the final buzzer. At times the Jags forced the North Canyon offense behind the 5 second line for extended periods of play, not allowing much penetration deeper than the top of the key. For three quarters of play the Jags held North Canyon to single digit scoring.
On the offensive side of the court, BC started a 10 point scoring run with a Randyll Roberts three. After another three by Josh Braun the rout was on. Again, Coach Walker was able to utilize his entire bench. All 10 dressed varsity players played at least 13 minutes.
About the only thing that didn’t go BC’s way was a missed “alley-oop” pass from Weston Newel to Josh Braun and a missed monster dunk by Connor Kuchar. Other than that, the Jags imposed their will throughout the game.
Josh Braun led the scoring with 16 points, Weston Newell had 14 points, and Stephen Crim 12. Another well balanced scoring attack. Next up is a huge game against arch rival Sandra Day O’Connor on Saturday night. Let’s get out there and get crazy!!
