The Boulder Creek boys basketball team got back to regular season action last Friday night with a solid 59-47 win over the Mesa Jackrabbits. The Jags were up by 5 points at halftime after and hard fought first half. In the third quarter the Jags took control and surged to a 15 point lead. From there Coach Walker was able to utilize his bench and the Jags coasted to a 12 point win.

Tuesday night the Jags lost to Westwind Prep by a score of 77-72. This game was all about poor defense and worse rebounding. BC was also very slow in transition giving up easy breakaway baskets by Westwind. There is no way BC can give up 77 points in a 32 minute high school basketball game. Stats and points really don’t matter much after a loss like that. There was far too much reaching with their arms and hands, and not moving their feet against a quick Westwind Prep team. 3 Jaguars fouled out.
To their credit the Jaguars, down 15 points in the third quarter, fought back to within 3 points with 2 minutes left in the game. Boulder Creek then had to foul which usually meant that PeeWee Gardner, the talented point guard from Westwind, went to the line. He didn't miss.
The Jags have to dig deep and summon the will to rebound and play defense against O’Connor on Thursday night.
