Jags Finish Holiday Tournament Activity with Strong Effort

The Boulder Creek men’s basketball team recently completed play in their third and final Holiday tournament, winning 2 of 3 games in the prestigious Hobbs Invitational Tournament in New Mexico. The Jaguars dropped their opening game to a strong Bishop McGuinness team from Oklahoma City but rebounded with victories over Lawton and Maryvale. Overall Boulder Creek went an impressive 6-2 in the three tournaments they participated in so far this season.

Staying consistant in their play, the Jags continued to be led in both scoring and rebounding by Josh Braun and Weston Newell. Ryan Zettle worked at perfecting his role of providing assists at key moments. Coach Walker and his coaching staff worked at getting the most out of their players and being the masters of substitutions had support off the bench with solid contributions by Jake Hunt and Stephen Crim. Hunt went on a three point streak scoring 5 threes in two games. Braun and Newell were both named to the Hobbs Holiday Tournament team.

The recent showing improves their overall season record to an outstanding 10-4 mark as the Jags prepare to get into the heart of their Northwest Conference schedule. Boulder Creek next sees action when they travel to face conference foe Kingman on Friday, January 7th, followed by another away game against Goldwater on January 11th. The Jags return to the friendly confines of their home court against arch rival O’Connor on January 14th. The team is looking forward to their return to the hardwood and want to see Jaguar Nation out in force to cheer them on!
