The Boulder Creek Jaguars continued their assault on the Northwest region of 5AII with another easy victory on Tuesday night. This time the victim was the visiting Goldwater Bulldogs, who fell to the Jags by a score of 75-36.
Excellent team defense continues to propel Boulder Creek forward and this game was no exception. The Jags opened up a 17 point lead at half time and coasted to another lopsided win. Boulder Creek applied full court pressure for much of the game, resulting in numerous turnovers and a frustrated Bulldogs backcourt.
Even in a half court game Goldwater was never able to consistently penetrate the Jaguars defense as they attempted to run their offensive sets. Offensively Boulder Creek had little trouble scoring and getting the shots they wanted. The Jaguars were paced by co-captains Ryan Crane with 25 points followed by Alex Dykhuizen with 13 points, Newell 10 points
Simpson 7 points and Zettle 7 points.
Boulder Creek also received excellent all around games from Ryan Zettle and Weston Newell, who provide offensive fire power and defensive intensity. Joe Simpson and Josh Braun supplied the Jags with energy, a formidable inside presence and strong rebounding support.
Coach Walker also called upon his reserves throughout the game and again got consistent contributions, in particular from Cort Watson, Benji Rutan, Ryan Benn and Jake Hunt.
Boulder Creek hits the road on Friday and will face regional foe O’Connor. The Jaguars are now 14-2 and continue to impress the Boulder Creek faithful with their play.
